Give your immune system a boost. Feel well and look after yourself
Over the past few years, we’ve all been focusing on our health perhaps more than we might have before the pandemic.
Keeping our immune system in top condition is important in the fight against viruses like coronavirus, flu and others. Simple changes to your lifestyle will give your immune system a huge boost, so we’ve outlined the very best below…
Stay Active
Whether it’s an at home workout, session in the gym, running around the block, swimming, gardening or simply walking, staying active is free, enjoyable and helps your immune system immensely.
Take Vitamins
Getting vitamins in your diet is vital for a healthy immune system, specifically vitamins A, C, D and E. Eating a healthy, varied diet should help you consume key vitamins, but if you’re struggling, there are plenty of supplements available.
Sleep Well
In today’s society, a good night’s sleep is increasingly overlooked, but it’s so important to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night. Especially for those who train, sleep is vital for not only our immune system but for our recovery too.
Top sleep tips include:
- Keep your bedroom as dark as possible, as light from electrical sources or outside can have a detrimental effect on our sleep.
- Avoid caffeine in the afternoon.
- Keep off your phone, tablet and laptop for an hour before bed. Using electrical devices with blue light just before bed time can prevent you from nodding off.
- Take a bath before bed to relax, and add epsom salts.
- Keep your room cool to help you fall asleep.
Healthy Diet
A no-brainer, eating a healthy portion of vegetables with every meal massively helps to boost your immune system. Drink plenty of water and reduce your consumption of alcohol throughout the week.
Look after your body and it will look after you.
